ORNITHOLOGY AND TOURISM

Thank you for your visit.
When I travel abroad, I try to make the most of it but I must admit I'm especially fond of picturesque sites and the wildlife in general. In this site, you will find a few trip reports which are not intended to be scientific in any way and there is also a page on my favourite spots. However, I have tried to give you useful information and personal impressions for which I take full responsibility. I may have forgotten a few points and if you need further details please write to me. I also apologize for the poor quality of some of the photos taken when a digital camera was still a rarity. I have started digitizing some of them and the result is much better than for those I only scanned.
Some hyperlinks, like those of the hotels I mention will direct you to other websites. Don't forget to come back!
You will get a lot of information (photos, songs, geographical distribution) about the avifauna if you use the search engine in Denis Lepage's website. To get there, just click on any bird's name at the end of each page.
Please also have a look at Travellingbirder, a great site for those who would like to see birds all around the world. Continents are classified alphabetically and so are countries, with an exception for France mainly for lay-out reasons. Please don't see any jingoism here.
There are also other countries worth a visit in Europe. I spent my July - August holidays in Austria in 1994, went to Bulgaria in July 2008, Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) in February - March 2010 and stayed a week in Madeira in April 1998. I have been to the Netherlands many a time, mainly at the end of December and went twice to Scandinavia. We went to Scotland in July 2011 and we thoroughly liked this country. In2012, we went on a fantastic expedition cruise in Svalbard and watched Polar Bears, Whales and many birds of the Far North. In 2013, another Canary Island: Tenerife.
In 2014, we visited Crete in April. This isle is covered with rosebay bushes and hosts interesting birds, especially in the mountains.
I discovered Peru and Bolivia in August 2004. The countryside and the culture of these countries came as a shock.
I would appreciate it if you would let me know about any mistakes I might not have seen.
